Baseball Game Preview: Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers vs. Owensboro Red Devils

The Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Owensboro Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last six games Breckinridge County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Breckinridge County will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Central Hardin, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Fighting Tigers had just enough and edged out the Bruins 6-5.

Breckinridge County let Leland Board and Draven Scott run wild. Board went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Scott scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Scott a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonah Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Breckinridge County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Owensboro didn't have quite enough to beat Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday and fell 5-3. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Aces recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Breckinridge County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Owensboro, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Breckinridge County couldn't quite get it done against Owensboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Fighting Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
