Baseball Recap: Chalker Victorious

While Chalker's victory against Lordstown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Red Devils 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Ryan Herdman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 11 over 4.1 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Chalker let Zach Pack and Daniel Kellar run wild. Pack went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Kellar went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Kellar has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Prowitt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Chalker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Chalker's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Lordstown, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chalker will take on Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lordstown, they will challenge Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
