Baseball Recap: Conneaut Takes a Loss

Conneaut fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lakeside on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 6-5. The loss leaves the Spartans still looking for their first win of the season.

Jacob Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jefferson Smothers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Conneaut's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Lakeside, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

While Conneaut had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
