Baseball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Evergreen Park

It's playoff time, and Evergreen Park had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Kennedy Crusaders on Wednesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Yarim Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.

In other pitching news, Michael Rodriguez looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

Back at the plate, Rowan Smyth was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

Evergreen Park pushed their record up to 27-9 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-11.

As of now, neither Evergreen Park nor the Crusaders have any future games scheduled.
