Baseball Recap: Perrysburg Wins Going Away Against Wapakoneta

Perrysburg not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2nd (when they won 8-0). They put the hurt on the Wapakoneta Redskins with a sharp 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Heitmeyer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rettig, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Perrysburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Perrysburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Wapakoneta, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-4.

Perrysburg and Wapakoneta are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Yellow Jackets will face off against Berea-Midpark at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wapakoneta, they will challenge Ashland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
