Basketball Recap: Nick Martinez and Devian Rivera Secure Win for Stockdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stockdale). They walked away with a 48-35 win over the Geneva Eagles on Tuesday.

Stockdale was led to victory by Devian Rivera and Nick Martinez. Rivera went 6-for-15 on his way to 19 points and three steals, while Martinez almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jake Aguilar was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Stockdale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Stockdale's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stockdale will welcome Ingleside at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. The Brahmas will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Geneva, they will be playing at home against John Paul II at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
