It's playoff time, and Wesleyan Christian Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers  5-4. The  victory was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on five straight.
 Josh Hammond made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out eight batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (and not a single walk). That's the most  strikeouts  he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances with one  run and one  double.
 In other pitching news,  Sam Cozart tossed a big game,   striking out 14 batters over  seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits (and not a single walk). He also  tossed  no  walks, which is notable because Wesleyan Christian Academy is 6-2 when he allows at  most  two  walks, but 8-9 otherwise.
 Back at the plate,  Cole Bowman was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  double.  Nick Papciak was another key player,  getting on base  in two of his five plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's win was  their sixth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 14-11. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost 16 of their last 18 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record  this season.
 Wesleyan Christian Academy will challenge Charlotte Latin at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7  runs per game this season. Charlotte Country Day School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
