Football Recap: Joey Rayas Leads Hamilton's Defense on Thursday

Hamilton had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it six. They took a hard 22-6 fall against the Vasquez Mustangs. The matchup marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even if they lost, Hamilton's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Joey Rayas was especially locked on to Vasquez's QB and sacked him twice. William Behrendt was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

As for Vasquez, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 31.8 points this season.

Leading Vasquez to victory were Jayden Lopez and Zack Van Ornum. Lopez rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown, while Van Ornum rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores. Lopez didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles.

Hamilton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 27-14 defeat against San Jacinto Valley Academy on the 9th. As for Vasquez, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against St. Bernard on the 10th.
