Softball Recap: Coolidge Takes a Loss

Coolidge dropped their record down to 9-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Valley Christian Trojans, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered since March 4th.

As for Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Valley Christian's part, Leigha Kremlacek made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Kremlacek has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Abrielle Jarles was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs. Taya Clausen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Coolidge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Globe on the 15th. As for Valley Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against Seton Catholic on the 15th.
