Baseball Recap: Dixie Heights Find Success

While Dixie Heights's win against Beechwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Dixie Heights' pitcher stepped up to hand Beechwood a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Colonels haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Kyle Flynn, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Beechwood off the board. What's more, Flynn gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Dixie Heights' win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sean Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Dixie Heights' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Beechwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixie Heights is headed away from home for the first time to challenge East Jessamine on Saturday. As for Beechwood, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Beechwood Tigers challenge Conner Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
