Baseball Game Preview: Diamond Ranch Panthers vs. Chaffey Tigers

For the second straight game, Diamond Ranch will face off against Chaffey. The Panthers will face off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Diamond Ranch is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Chaffey a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.

It was a proper cat-fight when Diamond Ranch challenged Chaffey on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 11-2 to the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since April 17, 2024.

For Chaffey's part, Jacob Venegas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Venegas has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ernesto Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Chaffey is 3-1 when Hernandez posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Emilio Alcala, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.
