Basketball Recap: Galena Falls Despite Big Games from Julia Imse and Ramona Peterson

Galena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The matchup between them and the Reed Raiders didn't end well, with the Galena Grizzlies falling 62-47. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Raiders are ranked eighth).

Galena's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ramona Peterson, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points, and Julia Imse, who posted 13 points. Imse continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Turner, who earned three points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Galena was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reed only posted four assists.

Faanaetaua Puloka was her usual excellent self, putting up 37 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Reed. That makes it four consecutive games in which Puloka has scored at least a third of Reed's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chevelle Rogue, who scored ten points.

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Reed, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

Galena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-40 defeat against Damonte Ranch on the 7th. As for Reed, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-34 loss against Spanish Springs on the 7th.
