Baseball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Montrose on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Meteors by a score of 8-7. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Meteors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jordan Jagger was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Jagger was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Ziggy Bradford was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Holtsmaster, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Montrose, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will host Carbondale Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montrose, they will face off against Elk Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Meteors will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
