Basketball Recap: Bethel Academy Takes a Loss

On Thursday, Bethel Academy were beaten by Plaza Heights Christian Academy 66-30. While losing is never fun, Bethel Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Plaza Heights Christian Academy is ranked 217th).

Plaza Heights Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Cornine, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Cornine has scored at least a third of Plaza Heights Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Collier, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Bethel Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Bethel Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-38 victory against El Dorado Christian on the 24th.
