Softball Recap: Port Allen Takes a Loss

Port Allen lost against Plaquemine back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pelicans lost 14-3 to the Green Devils.

Marsha Shirley and Mc'Kennzie Chenevert did some serious damage despite the final result: Shirley scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Chenevert went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Shirley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aysha Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Port Allen's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Plaquemine, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Port Allen will head out on the road to square off against Tara at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pelicans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Plaquemine, they will square off against St. Joseph's - Plaucheville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
