Volleyball Recap: Lilly Carrillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alleghany over Starmount + How To Watch

Alleghany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Starmount Rams. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Alleghany started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 15-6.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilly Carrillo, who had 19 digs and one block. Carrillo is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ellie Collins, who had 20 kills, 15 digs, and two aces.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Starmount, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Alleghany has already played their next matchup (against West Wilkes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Starmount, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against East Wilkes on the 2nd.
