Baseball Recap: James Monroe Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

After losing to Wyoming East the last time they met, James Monroe decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mavericks came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mavericks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Wyoming East's batters probably weren't too happy with Kadyn Hines, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (he gave up five walks). Hines has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peyton Gardinier was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. He has become a key player for James Monroe: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Crislip, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

James Monroe's record now sits at 14-10. As for Wyoming East, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 16-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. James Monroe will welcome Greenbrier West at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wyoming East, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against WestSide at 5:30 p.m.
