Recap: Matanzas Pirates vs. Lincoln Trojans
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Matanzas Pirates, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Lincoln on Friday, falling 49-0. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, Matanzas couldn't push the score so high this time.
Lincoln was led to victory by Christian "deuce" Lawrence and Jashawn Washington. Lawrence rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Washington gained 155 total yards and three touchdowns. Washington was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Sims, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Matanzas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lincoln will look to defend their home field on Friday against Choctawhatchee at 7:30 p.m. Choctawhatchee is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
