Softball Game Preview: Sumner Cowboys vs. Northlake Christian Wolverines

The Sumner Cowboys will challenge the Northlake Christian Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Northlake Christian likes a good challenge.

Sumner's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Franklinton. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won ten contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Northlake Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Covington.

Abigail Willie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sam Raimondi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maitland Popham, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Northlake Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Sumner, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
