Football Game Preview: Clinton Comets vs. Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights

The Clinton Comets will take on the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clinton has given up an average of 39.1 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clinton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 52 points on October 10th, they were much more limited against Morrisville-Eaton on Friday. They were outmatched by the Mavericks and fell 52-7. The Comets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.

Meanwhile, Frankfort-Schuyler faced West Canada Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Maroon Knights breezed past the Nighthawks to the tune of 64-22. Considering the Maroon Knights have won six matchups by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Frankfort-Schuyler's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Clinton, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Clinton was dealt a bruising 52-0 defeat at the hands of Frankfort-Schuyler when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
