Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bucksport

Bucksport won the last time they faced Washington Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Golden Bucks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Raiders. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Bucks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Trent Goss made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ryan Winchester was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Bucksport's record now sits at 9-6. As for Washington Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 12-2 record.

Coming up, Bucksport will host Searsport at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bucks will no doubt try to take advantage of. Washington Academy will be paying especially close attention to Bucksport's contest: after Bucksport faces off against Searsport, they'll take on Washington Academy again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
