Chino Hills (Calif.) picked up the first of what will likely be many National Player of the Year awards Wednesday.
The 6-foot-6 senior point guard was named 2016 Morgan Wootten Player of the Year by the McDonald's All American Games.
Running the show for the nation's No. 1-ranked team at Chino Hills, Ball has produced triple-doubles on a regular basis — helping the Huskies average over 100 points per game.
As the 20th male recipient of the Morgan Wootten award, he joins previous honorees including Ben Simmons (2015), Jabari Parker (2013), Kevin Love (2007), LeBron James (2003) and Jay Williams (1999).
According to a press release distributed with the announcement, the future UCLA Bruin also carries a 3.77 grade point average.

Crystal Dangerfield, a senior point guard at
Blackman (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), won the award on the girls' side. The UConn signee is averaging 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for the 27-4 Blaze.
