Softball Recap: San Mateo Has No Trouble Against Presentation

San Mateo barely beat Presentation the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. San Mateo blew past Presentation 7-0 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bearcats also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2018.

Demi Alfonso was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Aliyah Scheller was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

San Mateo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Presentation is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

San Mateo will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Aragon at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. San Mateo's pitchers better be ready for this one: Aragon has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Presentation, they will head out to square off against Archbishop Mitty at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop Mitty's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Presentation's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
