Softball Recap: Montville Has No Trouble Against Plainfield

Montville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Plainfield on Friday. The Wolves blew past the Panthers 18-11. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jainna Lesniewski and Alanna Noonan did most of the damage at the plate: Lesniewski went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Noonan went 5-for-6 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Noonan has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Malinowsky, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Montville's win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Plainfield will challenge East Lyme at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Montville will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' match: after the Panthers face off against St. Bernard, they'll take on Montville again at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
