Baseball Recap: Pocahontas County Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Pocahontas County kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Highland Rams, falling 17-4. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Logan Keatley and Devon Burgess stepped up to the plate in a big way. Keatley scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Burgess scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Highland's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocahontas County will venture away from home to take on Braxton County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Highland, they will take on Pocahontas County at 4:30 p.m. on March 27th.
