Baseball Recap: Harlan County Comes Up Short

Harlan County was the 7-4 winner over Knox Central when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Black Bears fell 6-1 to the Panthers on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Harlan County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dashaun Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Bren Blevins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Harlan County has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16-1 record this season. As for Knox Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Harlan County by a score of 3-0 later that day.
