Baseball Recap: Barringer Takes a Loss

Barringer fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against St. Benedict's Prep on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gray Bees by a score of 8-7. The Blue Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gray Bees apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Breylin Hidalgo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Yadier Tapia, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Barringer's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Benedict's Prep, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barringer will venture away from home to take on Verona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Benedict's Prep, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Union City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
