Baseball Recap: Maryvale Prep Takes a Loss

Maryvale Prep extended their losing streak to 12 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Anthem Prep Eagles, falling 17-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-9 back in March.

Maryvale Prep saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andy Quintero, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Quintero has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another was Gerardo Angulo, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

As for Anthem Prep, their record is now 8-9. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Anthem Prep's side, Tate Daniels was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Daniels a new career-high. Jaxon MacHugh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Maryvale Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Anthem Prep, they will face off against St. David at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
