Lena-Winslow fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Galena on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 5-4. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Cohen Weegens was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Maverick Cass was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run. Another player making a difference was Ashton Gerber, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.

Lena-Winslow's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4-1. As for Galena, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Lena-Winslow will face off against Orangeville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.91 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Galena, they will square off against West Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
