Softball Recap: University Charter Comes Up Short

If University Charter was feeling good fresh off their 20-1 takedown of Hatch last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trail Blazers fell just short of the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights by a score of 13-12 on Tuesday. The Trail Blazers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Marissa Felus was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Allen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

University Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University Charter will square off against Keith at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, they will challenge Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.38 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
