Kayli Reece made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Zoey Horton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morristown-Hamblen East). They blew past Cosby 18-1 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Ella Wampler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Wampler was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harmony Sullivan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Cloninger, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Morristown-Hamblen East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Morristown-Hamblen East is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Jefferson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Jefferson County might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Morristown-Hamblen East when the teams last played last Tuesday. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
