Softball Recap: Clay Has No Trouble Against Canterbury

Clay never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Canterbury Crusaders. The contest marked the Blue Devils' most dominant win of the season so far.

Sadie Russo looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

At the plate, Clay got a massive performance out of Hailie Miera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Miera has posted since back in April of 2024. Malia Collins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Clay kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Clay and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canterbury, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay will square off against St. Augustine at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Clay is facing St. Augustine at the right time seeing as St. Augustine is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Canterbury, they will challenge East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. East Lake's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Canterbury's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
