Basketball Recap: Heartland Christian Comes Up Short

If Heartland Christian was feeling good fresh off their 62-41 takedown of Toronto two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Heartland Christian Lions received a blow on Monday as they fell 65-48 to the McDonald Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-40 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Juliana Krumpak, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and four steals for McDonald. The dominant performance gave Krumpak a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gracie Callow, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Heartland Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for McDonald, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Looking ahead, Heartland Christian is taking a road trip to square off against Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for McDonald, they will be taking part in a tournament against United at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McDonald has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
