Basketball Recap: Odyssey Institute Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Abby Elledge and Gwendolyn Carricart

Odyssey Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 37-29 to the Kingman Bulldogs. The Minotaur were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Odyssey Institute's loss came despite strong showings from Gwendolyn Carricart and Abby Elledge. Carricart dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, while Elledge posted a point and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Carricart a new career-high in boards.

Kingman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Silas, who earned 11 points.

Odyssey Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Kingman, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Odyssey Institute didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-8 loss against Yuma Catholic on the 1st. As for Kingman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-41 defeat against Kingman Academy on the 3rd.
