Softball Recap: Burkburnett Takes Down Benbrook in a Playoff Battle

Burkburnett extended their postseason success on Thursday against Benbrook. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bobcats. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kennedy Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, EJ Dominguez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Macie Call, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

The win (which was Burkburnett's seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-16. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Benbrook, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10.

Burkburnett will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
