Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Triton Central's Winning Streak

Triton Central suffered their biggest defeat since October 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against the Mt. Vernon Marauders, falling 3-0. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Triton Central was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Mt. Vernon work for it, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 28-26, 25-19.

Lucy May paced Triton Central's offense, picking up ten kills. May got some help from Maryrose Felling and her 13 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mt. Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubry Dowling, who had 23 digs and two assists. Dowling is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Anderson, who had seven digs and three aces.

Triton Central's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Mt. Vernon, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 15-5.

Triton Central has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Southwestern on the 25th. As for Mt. Vernon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Lawrence North on the 25th.
