Softball Recap: Troy Christian Eagles vs. Tri-County North Panthers
Troy Christian had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-19 to make it 19. They lost 11-0 to the Tri-County North Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Tri-County North, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-9. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Tri-County North's part, Kasidi Daugherty made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Daugherty has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Bella Cherry was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gracie Hemp was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
