League recap: Teton propelled into state Top 25 after victory

3A Mountain Rivers recap Oct. 9, 2012

Teton was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Sugar-Salem. The Redskins came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Teton extended the longest winning streak in 3A Mountain Rivers this week by beating the Diggers, 43-16. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Redskins.

South Fremont's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Junior Gonzalez has thrown for 771 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Jason Maupin has 17 catches for 319 yards. Zach Trost leads the league in rushing with 246 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Teton and Shelley. The Redskins enters the contest ranked 24th in the state, while the Russets ranks 13th.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Teton takes on Shelley. The Redskins have allowed 52 points this season, while Travis Hobson's team has given up 69.

Teton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,992 from 5,421. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 43-16 victory over Sugar-Salem last week.
