Football Game Preview: Chalmette Owls vs. Ponchatoula Green Wave + Official Tickets

The Chalmette Owls will take on the Ponchatoula Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chalmette's defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so Ponchatoula's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Chalmette strolled past Pearl River with points to spare, taking the game 20-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Owls.

One reason for the win was Chalmette's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Pearl River's QB won't forget David Gonzalez anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Gonzalez is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another thorn in Pearl River's side was Tyray Darensburg, who picked up 0.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponchatoula). They put the hurt on Independence with a sharp 34-13 win on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Green Wave needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Ponchatoula's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Chalmette, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
