Basketball Recap: Katherine Mentesana's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Severn School over Annapolis

Severn School has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Annapolis Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Admirals of the 33-23 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Several Admirals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katherine Mentesana, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Austin, who posted eight points.

Mckenzie Fuller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Annapolis, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Fuller's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Catherine King was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Severn School's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Annapolis, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Severn School has already played their next match (against St. Paul's Girls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Annapolis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-22 victory against Northeast on the 4th.
