Baseball Game Preview: Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans vs. Mercer County Golden Eagles

The Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Mercer County Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Bushnell-Prairie City is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell 8-3 to Biggsville West Central on Tuesday.

Bushnell-Prairie City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Palm, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mercer County had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They never let Hamilton/Warsaw get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. The Golden Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 20, 2024.

Kevin Wilkens looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Mason Gray was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Kenney, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Bushnell-Prairie City took their win against Mercer County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 17-9. Does Bushnell-Prairie City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mercer County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
