Volleyball Game Preview: Lake Zurich Bears vs. Stevenson Patriots + How To Watch

The Lake Zurich Bears will head out to face off against the Stevenson Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Zurich will be strutting in after a win while Stevenson will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Lake Zurich turned things around against Lakes on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Eagles.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lake Zurich was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-15.

Ella Elsen and Samantha Makhlouf were among the main playmakers for Lake Zurich as the former had ten assists and two aces and the latter had four aces and one assist. Those four aces gave Makhlouf a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Stevenson unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to Richmond-Burton.

Lake Zurich will have to contain Ryler Bondad as she made an impact in Stevenson's last game. She had 11 assists and six digs.

Stevenson's loss dropped their record down to 21-11. As for Lake Zurich, their win bumped their record up to 18-13.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Lake Zurich has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Stevenson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Lake Zurich came up short against Stevenson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
