Southside has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Thorsby has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Panthers will welcome the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Southside beats Thorsby with 66 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Panthers didn't even let Wilcox Central on the board on Friday, marking the Panthers' second-straight 66-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Jaguars are ranked 401st).
Southside found their leader in sophomore Kole Moody, who threw for 379 yards and five touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes. Moody's superb passer rating of 170.1 also marked a new season-high. Southside's leading receiver Cedrick Simmons was Moody's top target yet again, picking up 115 receiving yards and one TD.

Southside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Simmons picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. His receiving production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 15th straight game with at least 101 receiving yards dating back to last season. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Thorsby's game on Friday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They claimed a resounding 46-12 win over Greensboro. The Rebels pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders had little chance of recovering from.
Southside better keep an eye on Braylon Carroll. He was instrumental in Thorsby's win, rushing for 166 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 150 yards while completing 87.5% of his passes. Javien Cooper made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Thorsby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Thorsby's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brayden Littleton, Jaxson Jones, and Manuel Castillo, who each picked up one sack apiece. Cooper got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Southside's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Thorsby, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-0.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Southside has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 386.4 passing yards per game. Thorsby, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 265.2 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Everything came up roses for Southside against Thorsby in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-27 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rebels' Grayson Mcmanus, who rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 98 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
