Basketball Recap: Carlin Comes Up Short

Carlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 66-14 loss at the hands of the Jackpot Jaguars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Railroaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-26 last Friday.

Jackpot's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jorge Avila led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Avila is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Angel Martinez, who went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points along with seven assists and five boards.

Carlin's record now sits at 3-17. As for Jackpot, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Carlin has already played their next match, a 62-4 defeat against Eureka on the 31st. As for Jackpot, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-41 loss against McDermitt on the 31st.
