Baseball Recap: Loogootee's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Loogootee barely beat North Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 9-1 win on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Cooper VanHoy made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Loogootee picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for North Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Loogootee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-0 defeat against Forest Park on the 12th. North Central has also already played their next game (against White River Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
