Basketball Recap: Lone Star Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, Lone Star was not quite Caliche's equal in the second half on Monday. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caliche Buffaloes. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Lone Star still got an impressive performance from Grant Kuntz, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Kuntz a new career-high in blocks (five). Jesus Hermosillo was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Caliche was led to victory by Mason Hernandez and Avery Bell. Hernandez dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards, while Bell dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bell has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last seven times he's played.

Lone Star now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Caliche, their record now sits at 5-8.

Lone Star didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-47 victory against Potter-Dix on the 6th. As for Caliche, they have also already played their next contest, a 49-39 win against Creek Valley on the 4th.
