Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Has No Trouble Against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons

Mabel-Canton was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tylar Wenthold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hailee Eiken, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ella Halverson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win got Mabel-Canton back to even at 2-2. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Mabel-Canton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-1 victory against Glenville-Emmons on the 8th. As for Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, they will face off against Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
