Recap: St. Martinville Tigers vs. Abbeville Wildcats
On Friday, the St. Martinville Tigers's game was all tied up 33-33 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Abbeville with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. Given St. Martinville's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Abbeville is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Delian Mallery was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ja'Myri Bernard, who scored 11 points.
St. Martinville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. As for Abbeville, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-17.
St. Martinville will challenge Crowley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crowley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Abbeville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kaplan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kaplan is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
