Baseball Game Preview: Hopkinsville Tigers vs. Fort Campbell Falcons

For the second straight game, Hopkinsville will face off against Fort Campbell. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Hopkinsville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Fort Campbell with a sharp 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Gavin Mitchell was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has become a key player for Hopkinsville: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Mitchell was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gavin Powell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Declan Goddertz, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

The win got Hopkinsville back to even at 7-7. As for Fort Campbell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
