Football Recap: Washington Extends Winning Streak to Nine

With a playoff win on the line, Washington rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Normal University Pioneers to the tune of 45-13. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Pioneers are ranked 254th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Normal University lost, don't look at Cade Cunningham. Despite the final result, he picked up 84 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The win (which was Washington's ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Normal University, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Washington nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
